I brought my 2007 Prius in for a check engine light, that great non-specific signal something is wrong, but you have to take your car to a repair shop to find out exactly what's wrong. Diagnosis indicated it was a bad thermostat, a $30 part. I was aghast to discover it was going to cost over $600 to repair and two days. I need a good explanation as to why a $30 part cost over $600 to repair. I called for a full explanation and Brian was very patient with my questions and in the end made me feel a little better as to why it cost $600 to replace a thermostat, including diagnostics and updating of software on the vehicle.
