Well, I just had engine repair completed for my 2019 Chrysler Pacifica at South Street Auto and I hope this review saves someone the money, time and grief that I went through. To start, the total was $9,600 which is just ridiculous for the repair completed to my engine! The repair included replacing the front and rear head gaskets, having two of the cylinder heads machined, replacing the timing chains, replacing the cam shafts and putting everything back together. There were some other miscellaneous parts replaced, but that was the bulk of the work completed. They preach transparency and integrity, but I did not experience either. My sales associate was purposely vague about timing and pricing, the two things that make or break someones repair experience. I had to follow up with him repeatedly throughout the process to find out where we were at and if things were being submitted to the warranty company. One particular instance, we agreed to the cost of repair on 8/15 and I gave the approval to begin. On 8/22, I was told that parts were going to cost more because my warranty company dragged their feet. However, my warranty company had already authorized the cost of repairs on 8/14, and it was on South Street to order parts and begin the repair which they were apparently did not do. Of course, they just passed the increased cost directly onto me. This was also after I individually fought with the warranty company to cover more of the cost of repairs. The warranty company covered roughly $1,000 more towards repairs and South Street Auto turns around and magically increases my costs by roughly the same amount. South Street Auto also isnt capable of diagnosing damaged engine components on their own, they need their suppliers to do it for them. Almost 4 weeks into the repair, I was told that the cam shafts were damaged and needed to be replaced. I was told they did not notice this earlier because their supplier cleaned them and saw they were damaged. Why werent these parts cleaned and checked during the initial diagnosis? This took the total of the repair from $6,600 to $9,600. At that point I asked about a new engine, my sales associate said that cost would be $15,000! I told him their pricing was ridiculous and he shrugged and said it is what it is. They strung the repair out over 6 weeks (van dropped of 8/7 and picked up 9/18) so they could keep charging a little more and a little more. The whole process of working with South Street Auto leaves you feeling confused and taken advantage of. This goes from talking to the sales associate, to the store manager and to the owner. We have been customers for the past 3 years having our general maintenance completed on both our family vehicles, but that loyalty means nothing to them and I doubt they even care. We will be finding a new shop (A&A at Rochester Rd and Wattles comes highly recommended). Please if you are reading this review and considering any type of large repair, do not take your vehicle to South Street Auto, you will save yourself a lot of money, time and headaches.
